Turn Your Session Into A Date

Oregon Engagement Photography - Turn Your Session Into A Date

A couples session doesn’t have to be a rushed hour of awkward poses. In fact, I strongly believe it shouldn’t fucking be! This styled session took a totally different approach, and it made all the difference. The couple planned a casual picnic in an open field, complete with a guitar, a bottle of wine, and their favorite snacks. It was such a relaxed atmosphere, and instead of rushing through the shoot, they were able to enjoy each other’s company. The best moments were when they were just hanging out, laughing, and playing music, completely forgetting the camera was even there. So, if you’re reading this, here’s how you can turn your session into a date.

One of the biggest pieces of advice I give to couples is to treat your session like a full day of dates instead of a set of posed photos. These two were so in sync, enjoying each other’s company in a way that felt real and comfortable. They weren’t just standing there waiting for instructions; they were interacting with the things they love. Doing activities you love helps you loosen up, forget the camera, and truly be present with each other. It makes the whole experience fun and something you’ll want to look back on.

So if you’re planning your couples session, I can’t stress enough how important it is to turn your session Into a date. Plan for it to be a day full of things you genuinely love doing together. Whether that’s playing music like this couple did, having a picnic, going for a hike, or hitting up your favorite local spot for a drink, incorporating your personalities into the session makes it so much more enjoyable. And trust me, when you’re having fun, the photos will capture that energy naturally. It’s about making memories during the session, not just taking pictures.

Kind Words

“From the moment we reached out to Jasmine to inquire for our wedding, I could tell what a sweet, professional person she was. I was not disappointed! During our engagement shoot, it started storming. I asked if we could continue to get a few more pictures, and she enthusiastically agreed. Some of the best pictures from the shoot came during the rain! We loved having Jasmine as our photographer. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who is in the market for one”
